Educating should be simple

When the German AIDS Service Organization (die Deutsche Aidshilfe) was looking for an agency to manage the website, “ICH WEISS WAS ICH TU” (“I Know What I’m Doing”), we pitched a proposal – and were awarded the contract. Since then, with our technical know-how, we have been working to advance the campaign step-by-step.

The German AIDS Service Organization is a non-profit association with the mission of informing and educating about HIV and AIDS. It uses multiple websites with different areas of focus – including the prevention campaign, “ICH WEISS WAS ICH TU” (IWWIT) (“I Know What I’m Doing”). On, the German AIDS Service Organization offers comprehensive information on LGBTQ+-health-related topics.

The Challenge

Performance goal: Always up to date

Since the IWWIT campaign was launched in 2008, it has had its own website. But, just being visible is not enough. “We want the information that we offer our target audiences to always be up to date – not only in terms of content and language, but also technologically and visually – this is a basic requirement for our success,” says Tim Schomann, IWWIT Campaign Director at The German AIDS Service Organization. “This is because the speed at which the standards of technology and the viewing habits of users are changing is only increasing.”

Find what you are looking for faster

When those of us at codafish took over support for the IWWIT website in March 2021, there were two topics at the top of the to-do list: The search function on the website needed to be improved and the visual presentation of the counseling services offered by the German AIDS Service Organization needed an upgrade. Further optimizations would be taken care of step-by-step as a part of monthly support.

"codafish supports us in the demanding task of optimizing our online projects, which have grown over the years, with up-to-date technology and modern design. It is a digital agency for integrated solutions, and an agency with which it is a lot of fun to work - that is enormously important to us. codafish makes digital human!“

The Solution

We make it easy for you

The IWWIT campaign website is based on Drupal, one of the world’s best-known content management systems and a guarantee for excellent performance, intuitive usability and a high-level of security.
However, Drupal is very complex because it provides many free extensions that can be used to customize the system.
In order to improve the functionality of the website, we first checked all of the settings in Drupal and brought them up to date, uninstalled superfluous modules and straightened out the database (repositories).

We are by your side

As an official Drupal agency, we are a skilled partner in all matters relating to open source CMS and we have the ability to optimize it quickly and securely. We listen to your wishes and work closely with you.
“In addition to calls and email, we communicate with codafish via a project management system. This enables a targeted exchange on projects that are running, partly, in parallel and is a real stress-reliever for the everyday,” says Tim Schomann of the German AIDS Service Organization.

The Result

More service and support

“By working with codafish, the search function of the campaign website was able to be improved. Also new is a redesigned footer, which makes the counseling services provided by the German AIDS Service Organization more visible.Next, we are going to work on a technological update of the sharing platform. And we are constantly identifying new areas, on the various digital channels of the IWWIT campaign, in need of attention,” says Tim Schomann.
With our monthly “Support Package”, we are able to continuously take care of the maintenance and optimization needs of the existing websites and other online projects at the German AIDS Service Organization. In addition to visual and functional adaptations at the frontend and backend, this also includes the regular implementation of security updates and SEO checks.

High-level security, low cost

By the way, you can use Drupal for free because there are no license fees. It is continually being developed by a developer community as an open source project that regularly brings the content management system up to date. The CMS meets the highest security standards.
